Overview of Upcoming Fisheries Act Changes with Mark McLean of DFO
10 September 2019
On June 21, 2019 the new Fisheries Act received royal assent and will come into force on August 28, 2019. The new provisions and stronger protections will better support the sustainability of Canada’s marine resources for future generations.
On September 10, 2019 Mark McLean, Manager of Fisheries and Oceans Canada’s Regulatory Review Unit, provided an overview of the modernized Fisheries Act and presented on the modifications to the ‘Applications Regulations’; transitional provisions; the revitalized Fish and Fish Habitat Protection Program (FFHPP); new tools and guidance available, and next steps for the FFHPP.
ESAM would like to thank Mark as well as Fisheries and Oceans Canada. The full presentation can be viewed or downloaded at the link below.
